British Association - BA (47.5°) - SET OF 3
Taps are used for cutting internal threads in
predetermined holes. These perform best in materials where the cutting action
results in chips which break up readily and do not present problems of chip
disposal.
BA taps are supplied in sets of 3 (taper, second and
bottom).
Taper
Used to provide a quick & easy start, but this will
not cut the thread down to the bottom of the hole.
Second / Starter
Used to increase the size of cut.
Bottom / Plug
Used for follow through right to the bottom to obtain
full depth of thread.
